From Commack, N.Y., comes word that five-time All-Pro linebacker Andre Tippett has been inducted into the Jewish Hall of Fame. Tippett was born a Baptist but converted to Judaism in 1997.
Also inducted were Olympic swimmer Dana Torres, weightlifter Gary Gubner, ESPN's Linda Cohn, sportswriter Dick Schaap and Marvin Miller, the former head of the baseball players union.
