Sarkisian to Return to USC

Ed Orgeron's interim coaching job came to an end on Monday when USC hired Steve Sarkisian as its head football  coach to replace Lane Kiffin. The announcement by the university came  two days after the Trojans were handily defeated Saturday by their crosstown rival UCLA.
Sarkisian has been the head coach at Washington for the last five years and his name had been on a short list of candidates for the USC job. He leaves Seattle with a 34-29 record. Before he was hired to coach the Huskies, Sarkisian was an assistant at USC for Pete Carroll, sharing the offensive coordinator position with Kiffin.
Sarkisian, 39,  will be introduced at a press conference on Tuesday at the campus' Heritage Hall. In the meantime, Orgeron, who compiled a record of 6-2 after taking over for Kiffin who was fired in September, is expected to remain at USC in some compacity although it is doubtful Sarkisian will add him to the coaching staff.
