Pit stops at Indy

It is still the greatest spectacle in sports, the Indianapolis 500. Where else can a man catch on fire, get doused with water by his pit crew, suffer burns on his eyebrows, and drive back into the race, all in a span of about a minute. It makes Paul Pierce and his wheel chair or Yao Ming and his knee pale in comparison.
That's what happened when Vitor Meira drove into the pits for gas, then tried to drive off before the nozzle was removed from the gas tank. The same thing would be a disaster  at the local gas station.
And, where else can a man who was facing prison for tax evasion a month ago, get the opportunity to race again, and win. That's what happened to Helio Castroneves of Brazil, the race's pole-sitter when he won his third Indy 500 by over 2 seconds on Sunday.
The race also  saw Danica Patrick drive to her best Indy 500 finish since her rookie year. Patrick crossed the finish line in third place. She may not have won but she was in the best TV commercial, the one for Motorola where here pit crew, a bunch of overweight, grizzly guys are dressed in drag, complete with leather boots and crash helmets.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
