The huge Mannywood poster is still on the side of the medical building at Ventura Blvd. and Libbit Ave. in Encino. The poster, which has several sponsors including the Topps baseball card and bubble gum company, has lost its celebratory image and is now a bitter-sweet reminder that the Manny era is over in L.A.

add Ramirez: Actually, the Manny era probably ended when he was suspended for 50 games last season for testing positive for a banned substance. The euphoria that engulfed Los Angeles when Ramirez led the Dodgers to the playoffs in 2008 was gone by the time he came back to the team a year ago.
In the era when Walter O'Malley owned the Dodgers, it's a good bet that Ramirez would have been traded or released after the suspension. O'Malley didn't put up with a player who had tarnished the Dodgers' PR-conscious, clean image.
